At first I was highly skeptical about buying speakers online that I have never heard before. The price seemed way to good to be true. I did plenty of research and could not really find anything bad about these speakers, especially for the price. The only thing that I did find was that the towers were amazing and the surrounds and centers were not as good as the towers. I decided to order the set of five and give them a shot. I could not be more satisfied. These speaker blow away every other speaker in their price range and many speakers above their price range. The build quality of speaker boxes are among the best I have seen. I would say they have a better build quality then klipsch's towers and their towers go for around 300$ each. If you are in the market for a nice low or mid end speaker system these are definitely your best bet buy far.

Well, I have had them for a few days. All I can say is for the money, I can't stop grinning while watching movies. It's awesome! Thanks Fluance.

I purchased the AV-HTB 5 speaker System over 5 years ago
Never looked back. Probably one of the best buys that I have made over those years.
The speakers are hooked up to a Sony surround system which is used to watch television, movies and PVR as well as listen to CDs and FM radio. Amazing sound, clear, great base, work great when listening to almost anything.
And the price - try getting anything of this quality to come close. Bet you can't.

I purchased this speaker package for my parents many years ago for their basement home theater system and they are still going strong. The towers are truly excellent! The build quality of these speakers are wonderful and the system plays very loud. I would not hesitate to purchase these again. The price is unbelievably cheap for a system of this quality. My only wish is that they would beef up the center-channel a bit, but it does the job very well.

I have waited for two years to write a review. Rome wasn't built in a day neither was my system. The speakers started their break in on a Sony 5.1. Not enough power. These are power hungry speakers. It wasn't until Two Carver TFM-CB 15s were hooked up to rear and mains that the speakers completed break in. A Carver TFM-CB 6 was bridged for the center. After another 100 or so hours these speakers began to blossom. I added an Outlaw 950 Processor, used decent interconnects and wire. I listen mostly to music and know we were sold a bill of goods when it comes to music CDS. They are compressed and that is that. What I wanted was as close to vinyl and tube as possible without spending my retirement. I did use a graphic equalizer (yea I know) between the rears to offset the dbs slightly and a powered sub for low end. After setting crossovers to processor 40/80/80 and sending > 80 to sub, I find that these speakers opened to full bloom. Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scott's 3/2/1 was A+, but what was really impressive was Savoy Browns Blue Matter recorded in 1968. On CD it sounded as it should with the creaking of Kims guitar neck to the what was inaudible for years wrong key a-hole. Bottom line either a speaker will produce a sound or it wont and if it does how well does it do it. I find these speakers after two years does produce and quite well. Would I purchase again? In a heartbeat.

Well, the SXHTB+ 5 has been a bit of an embarrassment of riches: I've got 2 different rooms where I watch movies, and at the moment, pieces of the system are shoring up what had been week spots in each place: the towers have replaced the left/right speakers in one room and the center speaker has taken over in the other, bringing much more intelligible speech to movie soundtracks. My biggest decision will be to decide which room will be the ultimate winner, and get all speakers replaced with the Fluances. I was a amazed by how well packed the speakers were for shipping - they arrived in pristine condition, despite one outer box having taken a bit of apparent abuse along the way. I love the classic look of the SXHTB+ 5s - they look wonderful in an older house, and the sound is fabulous. All in all, an amazing value.

I never heard of Fluance but after reading all the positive reviews, I decided to purchase the AV-HTB 5 speaker System. I was still skeptical and not too sure what to expect for the price but what a surprise! I'm blown away, these speakers look great and built solid. The true test was after I hooked them up to my SONY receiver and 10" subwoofer; the sound quality is amazing, it's clear and powerful. Add me to Fluance fan list, you made me a believer.

I bought Fluance speakers 5 yrs ago for my movie room at my friend's urging. I was a little skeptical because the price is so great. 5 yrs later, I couldn't be any happier that I made the choice to buy Fluance. I don't typically write reviews for anything I buy, but I was pretty compelled to write this one. Great speakers, even better price.

I took a stab at these speakers, knowing full well the wife would not approve due to their size (fronts). As expected, she was twisted, but I asked her to give them a chance, seeing as how she hadn't even heard them yet.. Now I know you should give them some break-in time to get the best sound from them, but that hasn't been necessary. They sounded awesome right out of the box (which, by the way was packed like they were precious cargo).
After a little dialing in of the sound field on the Sony receiver using the auto-calibration feature and mic, they have become virtually invisible in the sense that the sound wraps around you with a spaciousness I had never experienced before. Yes, I use a subwoofer, but it is tuned to be supplemental, not overpowering like some would have it, and at first I didn't realize it wasn't turned on until the heavy passages and movie effects were calling for it.
To sum it up, I have found it is often easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, but with these babies it was a piece of cake. BTW, nothing sounds as good as Xbox games in full surround sound- trust me.

I purchased the Fluance SXHTB+ set 5 years ago for my girlfriend's house which is where I now live. I have replaced everything else in that system but continue to use these speakers. I have not heard anything comparable close to the price. I use the speakers in the main system, our home theater, with Blu-ray, DVD-V, DVD-A, SACD, and HD DVD as well as OTA with surround sound. The main speakers work well with stereo sources. Of course if you can afford a multiple of the price, buy something better, but I don't think you can find anything else at this price as good.

In my experience these are absolutely the best speakers for the money to be found anywhere. I have had these for the past 4 years and I have NEVER regretted purchasing these speakers. The sound quality is so much better than anyone would expect from a set that cost as much as this one did. I have audiophile friends over who have paid more for a single speaker than I paid for this entire set, and even those snobs are impressed by the quality of these speakers. When I tell them how much I paid for them, they can't believe it. Sure you can always find better sounding speakers out there, but it will cost you at least four times as much for slightly higher quality that what these produce. I would buy them again, but since they apparently last so long, I won't need to :)

I had to sell off my very expensive home theater system (Denon receiver, M&K speakers) back in 2006, and when I was ready to replace it, I decided to go with something less expensive until I got back on my feet financially. So, I bought a Pioneer receiver and a set of SXHTB+'s, together with an extra pair of satellites for 7.1. I was skeptical that these speakers could be at all good at the price, but after reading every review about them that I could, I decided that they would probably be good enough, and the price was right in the range I could afford at the time, so I went ahead and ordered them.
I needn't have worried. From the get-go, they proved to be excellent speakers. Yes, I noticed a difference between them and the M&K's, but at four times the price, I would hope to hear a difference. Let's just say that it was not enough to cause me to want to upgrade since, even though I can once again afford the M&K's.
A recent upgrade to a Pioneer Elite SC-37, with it's extra two front channels caused me to buy two more satellites. I didn't even think of going anywhere else than to the Fluance web site to get them. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they still carried the same model, and was astonished to find out how little they cost; the speakers were so good that I had forgotten that they didn't cost much more.
If you are an extremely picky audiophile and have the money to spend, go buy the M&K's. If you want exellent speakers at an unbelievable price, you can't do better than Fluance.

If you are looking for rich sound that will fill your room at the fraction of the price of similar speakers on the market. Look no further. I have had my set for about a month and I am amazed everytime I listen to something. Once I broke them in the sound blew me away. Couldn't be any happier.

My current rig as of 1/2011:
-Fluance SXHTB+
-JBL ES250PBK 400-Watt High-Powered 12-Inch Subwoofer
-Harman Kardon AVR 2600 Receiver
-PlayStation 3 using 1.4a HDMI cables from Amazon on Linear PCM settings(not MonsterRipOffs)
I went from Infinity TSS-750 series satellite speakers to these Fluance speakers, and I have to say, they're simply amazing. I can't really compare to any other bookshelf speakers, only satellite speakers. However, I have heard speakers like these in the store and frankly, I couldn't tell you the difference between these and Polk audio.
As for shipping, Fluance is a smaller company and you can only buy the speakers from them, so I was expecting a long wait time. Shipping from Canada (I assume, since they're based there), my speakers were there by the end of the week after ordering on a Monday. I considered that to be speedy delivery. Before ordering though, I did have to wait for several months because they were out of stock, but I wasn't ready to buy then anyway.
What's included are two bookshelf speakers, a center, and two rear/sides (whichever you prefer). On Fluance's website, you can order two more speakers for complete 7.1 audio for $39.99 a speaker. The picture doesn't do them justice. I was going to actually paint the speakers black, as I hate "wood" looking furniture, but these are a bit darker than the picture advertises them to be. They actually blend pretty well with darker furniture. This comes from my wife as well, who didn't want to buy these just because she hates the wood look. But she instantly liked the darker color they arrived in.
Setting these suckers up was a little new to me. Again, I never had bookshelf speakers before, so I didn't know I needed to have two wires per speaker, but I guess I should have figured that out. After I got them setup, my receiver did all the work as far as configuring them, with me tweaking them a bit.
Now, I bought the subwoofer mentioned above at the exact same time. That sucker is huge, and packs a nice punch. But after the first day, I turned it off so I could play games at night, and really, I haven't used the subwoofer hardly since. My Blu-rays and games manage to boom at the appropriate moments, without the subwoofer. Often times, I felt like I was using my old subwoofer for bass, just from the speakers. They're not going to rattle windows, and tear down the roof, but they're great if you don't want to be too loud because of neighbors/sleeping wife.
The price, the quality, and the look is perfect. If someone broke in my house and robbed me blind, I wouldn't think twice about buying these again. At $299 (plus about $80 shipping), these really feel like a steal. Everyone that has heard them has been greatly impressed, and I feel if you're planning on getting a Polk audio set, consider Fluance as a superior product than them since they sound the exact same and cost way less.

I have had a lot of experience listening to various speakers from companies such as Paradigm, B&W, JBL, Klipsch, and other more well-known brands. I had bought the Fluance SXHTB package along with 2 extra Fluance bookshelf speakers for my parents 7.1 setup in their basement at least 8 or 9 years ago. Their system still sounds amazing! I still have yet to find an audio bargain as good as this anywhere! Never mind that the price is so low. Just enjoy the fact that the quality is so good!!!

I purchased the SXHTB set-up about 10 months ago and could not be happier. I was very skeptical initially at the price, but after some research i decided to give it a chance. The sound quality is amazing for the price. I had a 12'' sub-woofer set up behind my big screen at first, but the fronts of this sound system produce enough base that i decided to pull out my sub-woofer. It is a very clean, full, powerful system. This is truly a great deal, and i would recommend Fluance to anyone. If you're on the fence, I encourage you to go for it. You will not be sorry, and you also will not find a better deal.

I was thoroughly impressed with the build quality of these speakers. The fronts do an exceptional job of reproducing music. The center while being a bit on the hollow sounding side seems to fill out nicely with a few audio adjustments. The surrounds sound more vibrant than most satilites I have heard in the past. All in all a great system for the price. Even without a sub, the mains do an outstanding job of reproducing the lows.

I just couldn't believe the reviews of the people. LOW PRICE and OUTSTANDING SOUND? it just didn't add up.
I decided to give them a try. I was impressed with the build quality of these speakers and once I hooked them up I couldn't believe what my ears were hearing.
It just came to me: Bose, Infinity, Harman Kardon (any $1000+ speakers) cost that much because of the branding expenses. These however are sold directly and sound as good as any other speaker system.
I have Audiophile friends and they can not believe them either.
I will be ordering another set soon for my parents house
KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT QUALITY AND EXCELLENT PRICES!
If you are like me, give these speakers a try: there's nothing to loose since they come with a 30 day warranty!
Believe me, you will not want to return them!

After countless hours of research on the net I decided on Fluance and boy I think I made a wise choice, I never wrote a product review before, I guess I am too lazy for it but (In)Fluance is so awesome that I thought I should thank them by writing one. I have an Onkyo 607 and the home theater experience has been incredible since I hooked up the speakers. Love em!!!!!

I've had these speakers (or at least a version of them) since 2002 and I've loved them since the day I bought them. The sound is great, the price is right. The first think I listened to when I hooked them up was that THX sound at the beginning of one of the Indiana Jones movies and I got goose bumps from the sound. Still need to round it out with one of those subwoofers but I've used this set for everything: gaming, music, movies, tv, etc...

When i found this website I was sure I smelt something fishy, but I was so wrong. The sound quality of this speaker is nice excluding the price. But including the price they're an absolute steal.
The verdict for me is: No problems what so ever. I love listening to clear sound and a good rumble during a movie and I also love blasting my music; it works superb for all.
Thank you Fluance,
Dan.

I just set up my speakers and wow!! They haven't been "broken in" for 10 hours yet, but they still sound amazing! All 5 speakers have great weight and sound. This was a huge upgrade in value (not cost) over my Yamaha tiny satellite speakers.
I will be recommending Fluance to any friends and family that mention the term "surround sound". Thank you Fluance for providing a low cost alternative to high-class sound!!!!

I am really very pleased with my Fluance SXHTB+ speakers. I've had them for six months and can easily say that I'm impressed time and again by their audio reproduction and solid, high-end design.
My experience with service and delivery from Fluance was also top notch.

I've owned this system for over 6 years now it's by far and away the best deal ever on a set of speakers. I come back to site every now and then to see if Fluance has anything new but it looks like the same 'ol faithful, great sounding, high quality speakers they've been selling for years. I'll never own another set and if some reason mine quit working, I'll order another set the next day.....Well, when they get them in stock again :)

I purchased this setup just before Christmas, it definetly has the "wow" factor I was looking for. the Two front speakers ar heavy, and in my experience the heavier, the better sound. I have owned owned JBLS, Bose, Panisonic and yes even Insigna in the past. I am hearing sounds I have not heard before. I am pushing the speakers through a Yamaaha 563 and the sound is just out standing. The system does need a subwoover though and one that is large enough to compiment the speakers, an 8" sony I had just wasn't doing the job. I had ordered a subwoofer from fluance, on backorder, couldn't wait, ordered a Dayton, very plreased with overall sound. Coundn't ask for a better system for the price.

I received my Fluance SXHTB+ system in early January 2009, and I simply have had to give myself a "waiting period" before writing back to Fluance, Just because this system is absolutely fantastic! I could not believe it after the initial setup (very easy). I have the system Bi-Amped on an Onkyo SR606 Home Entertainment Receiver, and it is just high quality through and through for the price.
Now, it is very difficult to buy a speaker without having a chance to listen to its performance, so I relied heavily on "google" to supply experience. What I got from that source was enough for me to go ahead and order. I have not looked back since, this is a keeper. The sound can easily be compared with systems ranging well over a $1000. I used to build my own speakers, the last set though was ready for replacement, this is my first off the shelf purchase in a long time. Being used to craft my "own" sound makes the sound quality experience with Fluance even more positive. The construction finish is very nice and the units presents themselves very well in the familiy room, so on all fronts the product is amazing.
It is very important that the product is placed in the right technical context, in other words what is it you want to use it for? What is the purpose? How large is the room that it is suppose to deliver to? What type of equipment are going to drive it?
Once you place the Fluance SXHTB+ 5 speaker system in the right context you will understand the phenomenal performance it is capable of delivering for a very reasonable price!
Fluance: Thank You very much for a great product, delivered on time in a well thought out packaging solution, where everything arrived without a dent!

I bought the SXHTB for my husband after hearing nothing but good things about the brand from friends of ours.
I wasn't sure which speakers would be right for him and our current entertainment setup, so I contacted the company and they were very helpful in explaining the products and making sure that I purchased all the right plugs and wiring once I made my choice. :)
The sound is exceptional for the price. Our friends can't believe they were only $300! They sound just as good (if not better) than Sony or Yamaha systems at a fraction of the price. An awesome product!

A great bargain for these exceptional 5.1 home theater speakers. I've been using these speakers since November 2008. I am running these speakers through a Onkyo TSR606. Once these speakers broke in they really opened up. For $299.00 dollars you cannot go wrong. I own a pair of B&W 606 speakers and these speakers rival those. These speakers are definitely worth the price and more. Great job Fluance!!!!!
